LAJJA | Movie LIFE : Lesson, Info, Fun, Emotion | Keshav At Earth

Lajja is a multi-starrer movie including, Rekha, Jackie Shroff,
Ajay Devgan, Anil Kapoor, Madhuri Dixit, Manisha Koirala, and Mahima Chaudhary in main roles. The movie is basically based on daily life exploitation of women in our society.
How she is treated as an entity just to fulfil our needs. If the machine operates, use it and if not, destroy it. The names of 4 lead roles in the movie are all epithets of Sita : Vaidehi, Maithili, Janki and Randulari.

The movie has a specific focus on education, not only on the education of women but also men. It talks about literal education but more importantly about moral and ethical education, about the non- ethical delinquencies which we have adopted in our daily use in the name of modernism. It gives us a lesson to educate our surroundings in these aspects by every means possible.

The movie also exhibits an important fact, a piece of information which we all know but still ignore that a woman’s character is judged very easily in our society.
Madhuri and Mahima being Judged
It doesn’t matter what is the age, what are the situations. This may be very well the reason that the movie was monetarily a flop when it was released in 2001.

Surely things have changed a lot in nearly 2 decades but a lot of the visuals shown in the movie are happening all around us still today. The rate of change, as I would like to call it, is very slow.

Funny Elements
The movie has a serious plot but it is filled with small funny sequences. Johny Lever is part of movie and I guess there is no need to add something more for fun element but along with him Anil Kapoor I mean Raju’s biscuit will also feed your hunger for giggles. You do not feel like you are watching a social message movie at any point in the movie. One such movie is LITTLE WOMEN (ENGLISH), if you want a post on that please comment below or DM me.

Manisha Koirala in Lajja

Although most of the movie is pretty emotional but the dialogue where Manisha Koirala goes from  HAAN LAJJA AATI HAI to
KYUNKI AB HUMME LAJJA NAHI RAHI is my favourite.
The best part about this movie is that there are almost very few or say no parts of sad melodrama.

You may not have heard the name of movie but have surely enjoyed the songs “Badi Mushkil Baba Badi Mushkil” and “Sajan Ke Ghar Jana hai”. Although these are the catchy ones (Anu Malik stuff, you know it), my favourite is “Kaun Dagar Kaun Shahar” in the beautiful and calming voice of Lata mam.  This song is spread throughout the movie.

*BONUS TIP*  : Skip the first song “Paas Aaiye”. Save your 5 minutes as the movie is already very long.

As I said it is a long movie of 3h 20mins because it has three mini stories embedded in a fourth big storyline. It is a complete family movie and you can watch it very easily on digital streaming services provided by all network providers for free (JIOCINEMA and AIRTEL TV).
So, if you like this recommendation cum review of LAJJA, please share this with your friends and comment if you’ll watch the movie or not. Till then enjoy a #movielife
